Brentwood Town beat Dagenham & Redbridge 3-1 at a sold-out Arena in their first live TV game. Next: National League Eastleigh away on Saturday 17 October.

Brentwood Town are one win from the first round proper of the FA Cup. They beat Dagenham & Redbridge 3-1 at The Arena on Saturday 3 October, live on the BBC.

The Isthmian League called it one of the standout results of the weekend. A sold-out crowd watched it, and it was the first Brentwood Town game ever shown live (Isthmian League, 4 October).

Dagenham play in the National League South, one division above Brentwood’s Isthmian Premier Division.

How the goals went in

  • Luke Read scored the opener after eight minutes.
  • Alfie Cerulli came off the bench and scored twice in three minutes. He had only signed for the club the day before.
  • His first was a free kick shortly after the hour. The second came from another set piece: he took a lay-off and fired it low and hard past the Dagenham goalkeeper.
  • Tim Dieng pulled one back for Dagenham six minutes from time.

The goal times and the details of each goal come from the Football Association’s round-up and the Isthmian League’s report. The club announced Cerulli’s signing on Friday 2 October (Brentwood Town FC).

The run so far

This is Brentwood’s third win in this season’s competition. The club lists them as victories over Concord Rangers, Aveley and now Dagenham & Redbridge (Brentwood Town FC, 5 October). The Concord Rangers tie needed a replay, as we reported before the Dagenham game.

It has come in a month of change at the club. Brett Munyard took over as manager on 18 September, after the club parted company with Keith Rowland. The FA says his side are unbeaten since he arrived from Aveley.

On Tuesday the club named his backroom team after four games in charge (Brentwood Town FC, 6 October):

  • Darren Hunt and Adam Bailey-Dennis, first-team assistant managers, both with Munyard at Aveley
  • Mark Healy, first-team coach, also from Aveley, and Thomas Church, first-team coach, from Takeley
  • Joe Docherty, goalkeeper coach, from Cray Valley (PM)
  • Ricky Stubbs, fitness coach, another who worked with Munyard at Aveley

Steve Patient stays as first-team physio. He now shares the role with Darren Goodey, who also co-manages the under-23s.

Next: Eastleigh away on 17 October

The fourth qualifying round draw sent Brentwood to Eastleigh, a National League side, two divisions above them. The tie is at the Silverlake Stadium in Hampshire on Saturday 17 October. The winners go into the first round proper.

The club says the kick-off time, ticket details and travel arrangements will follow (Brentwood Town FC, 5 October).

Brentwood are one of four Isthmian League clubs already through to that round, with Cray Wanderers, Leatherhead and Eastbourne Borough.
